Two approaches with the same commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and serving.
In 1946, Second Baptist School established a five-day traditional school to provide biblical instruction and learning where students in pre-kindergarten 3 through grade 12 could grow academically, spiritually, physically and socially.
In fall 2020, Second Baptist School expanded its offerings in Christian education. Beginning fall of 2021, three Second Baptist School University-Model (SBSUM) campuses launched at North, Cypress and Memorial campuses. Two additional schools opened in the fall of 2023 at Second Baptist Church’s West and 1463 campuses. The SBSUM campuses are distinctively classical and packaged within a university-model, designed to educate students two to three days a week on campus.
The university-model campuses at Second Baptist School are certified University-Model® schools, offering a unique blend of personalized and traditional Christian education. By focusing on the individual student, these campuses ensure each child is thoroughly challenged across all subject areas. The curriculum, based on the classical education trivium of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, seeks to develop students into creative, thoughtful, and inventive problem solvers who are well-prepared for college and life afterward.
Founded on the principles of Christ-centered education, Second Baptist School University-Model champions academic excellence within a nurturing community. This educational approach, in collaboration with families, aims to develop students who think critically, live biblically and lead courageously to impact the world for Jesus Christ. By integrating two to three days of formal on-campus classroom instruction and two to three days of satellite off-campus work, we strive to provide an accessible, high-quality, biblically-based education. This balanced approach promotes community involvement through an extensive range of student-led activities, events, arts, and athletic programs, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching educational experience.
Our mission is deeply rooted in equipping students to think critically, live biblically and lead courageously to impact the world for Jesus Christ. As a gospel-centered community, we provide a nurturing environment where education extends beyond academics to form character and develop leadership skills. With a curriculum that emphasizes vertical alignment and co-curricular activities, our faculty—who are passionate about their faith, teaching, and expertise—ensures that every student, from pre-kindergarten 3 to twelfth grade, is known, valued, and challenged to exceed their own expectations. This approach fosters a compassionate environment where students are encouraged to take risks and aim high, supported by teachers who not only instruct but also inspire.
Our commitment extends to offering a comprehensive Christian college preparatory education that instills a biblical worldview across all program areas, encompassing academics, arts, and athletics. At our Woodway campus, students experience a traditional educational model, attending classes five days a week in a structured environment that reflects the excellence found in leading private Christian schools. Here, a well-rounded curriculum includes subjects such as math, science, English, social studies, and Bible studies, ensuring students receive a holistic education that prepares them for college and beyond while embedding the values and teachings of Christ in every lesson.
